At its in-house event Team ’24 Europe, Atlassian presented several innovations: after a four-month beta phase, the generic AI tool Rovo is generally available, there are also new LLM functions for developers, Atlassian for various products IntelliSense and Jira have a new interface and get new functions. Atlassian specifically wants to make navigation easier here. With Focus there is now a new product for managers who wonder what their employees really do all day. It allows you to map and track goals, tasks, teams, and funds, making it easy to align these things with your strategic priorities.

Key features of the Jira update are individually customizable page navigation and AI-supported search. Additionally, users can now determine what their task steps should be called – everything is no longer an issue automatically, but of course it can still be called. Users can now also create custom project templates that include pre-configured workflows, automations, and permissions. Additionally, the goal function is now an integral part of Jira and can be displayed as a list, timeline, calendar, and issue view.

Atlassian’s AI tool Rovo is now also generally available and aims to help users distribute their data across a wide range of (SaaS) applications. That’s what Rovo Search connectors should do, available at launch for Slack, MS Teams, SharePoint, Google Drive, Figma, and GitHub; 80 more connectors are expected to be added by the end of the year. Additionally, a chatbot makes it possible to query content from data and AI agents should be able to integrate into all common workflows. According to feedback in Rovo’s beta, users can effectively save one to two hours of time as data and information can be found more quickly.
With Rovo, users of Atlassian products will be able to search their product landscape for data and information in the future, making work more efficient.

AI for developers – and everyone else
There are new LLM functions specifically for developers, reminiscent of general programming assistants and possibly partly based on GitHub Copilot. In addition to analyzing code and suggestions for improvements, Atlassian’s tools aim to automatically generate code plans, code recommendations, and pull requests based on task descriptions, requirements, and company context directly in Jira. An Atlassian survey in July this year revealed that developers are not yet seeing the productivity gains that management wants from AI tools.
Under the keyword Atlassian Intelligence, additional AI functions are being added to Jira, for example the tool aims to break projects into separate work phases and then automatically create tickets. The Jira service management group then suggests the right resources and finally creates an incident report. Help Center, MS Teams, email, and widgets also allow AI to be embedded for service management.
Focus: Monitor Employees Effectively
To successfully measure the productivity gains of new AI tasks, Atlassian is launching a product focus for corporate strategy and planning. The focus is on managers and provides a central point of contact for tracking goals, projects, and teams. Conveniently, as soon as something changes or employees want to be motivated, users receive Teams or Slack alerts and AI summaries. With a single click, the dashboard should summarize the current situation and suggest which screws can be turned or where proactive measures may be necessary.
