The EclipseSource team has announced the release of Eclipse Theia 1.52. The open-source platform, which is used to build development environments and tools for the web and desktop, received 47 pull requests last month. Among other things, there are updates to the Theia IDE, which completed the beta phase with version 1.51 last month. It should now start faster and have better support for Visual Studio Code extensions.

Eclipse Theia 1.52 is also the first release candidate for Next community release 2024-08. The Community Edition appears every three months with a greater focus on stability and compatibility.
Theia IDE – faster and more compatible with VS Code extensions
eclipse theia ide (formerly Theia Blueprint) is based on the Theia platform and is available for cloud and desktop. It is an extensible framework written in TypeScript that aims to enable the development of complete cloud and desktop IDEs and tools.
Version 1.52 of the Theia IDE is said to have significantly reduced startup times on most systems. Based on user feedback, the development team has also improved support for many extensions for Microsoft’s source code editor Visual Studio Code. Both Eclipse Theia and the Theia IDE based on it can handle more than 3000 VS Code extensions that are available through the Open VSX Registry. Compatibility with extensions has been extended to version 1.91.1 in this release.
Bright colors in the terminal
Eclipse Theia presents another novelty with respect to terminals: the difficulty that could arise there was that the display was limited to eight colors. An innovation provides the correct settings for terminal environment variables terminfo(colors)

Be sure to enable 256 colors and True Color. Users should therefore notice more accurate colors in the terminal in both desktop and web versions of Theia and Theia IDE.
