Apple has owned it for twelve years Map Service as an app for iOS and macOS. But the manufacturer has only been making the service accessible to everyone as a website for just over a month. The service, initially marked as a beta version, does not have the full range of functions of the app version. Thus the website calculates routes for cars and pedestrians. Navigation for bicycles and public transport is missing at the moment. The map service offers “standard”, “hybrid” (combination of satellite and standard) and “satellite” as map displays. It does not show 3D buildings, nor does Apple’s Street View competitor “Look Around”.
So-called Guides, which summarize editorial content about places and sights, are already integrated. “Find Nearby” shows places such as restaurants or shops in the currently displayed map.
