One of the biggest challenges for photographers is getting viewers to react to their own images. From melancholic to relaxed and dramatic, this week’s selection conveys different moods that leave a strong impact.0

Summer, sun and beach – that’s all Bathing season By Anke Diehnelt Photography. The atmosphere of light that refracts and reflects in the waves is remarkable. The conch is the main object of the composition and a strong anchor for the viewer’s gaze, which would otherwise be lost in the vastness of the sea in the background. The sand in the foreground also sparkles slightly and contributes to the summer atmosphere. This scene makes you want to lie down on the beach and experience the sunset.

the picture is totally different Boat and Drowning 2 By gallery photographer Don’t-Panic-42. A melancholy tone dominates the scene here. The implementation in black and white also contributes to this. The photographer also underlines this mood in his message about how he got this photo: “There are many old arms and lakes of the Rhine around Speyer. There are a lot of fishing boats there, most of them are only used in summer. They are abandoned in autumn and winter, some are slowly filling up and slowly sinking, the bare trees underline the sadness of the scene: Will the owner come back next season and start the boat again? Will the boat be doomed to its slow demise?”

impressively dramatic and impressive storm atmosphere By Ursula Schindlbeck (uschi1956). The natural spectacle of a storm is beautifully captured. The photographer told us how she captured it: “To photograph lightning, I use a special camera technique called “live composite” in my camera. The first image is the original image, which is then combined with pictures already taken in the camera. Over a predetermined period of time images are taken to create the final individual image. This image was taken from the balcony of the house in the direction of the Wetterstein mountain with the Olympus O-M1 live composite camera over a period of about 30 minutes 1/2 seconds.”
Fashion through the centuries
Fashion through the centuries

something strange Fashion through the centuries By Jorg Tonwerken (tenno61). The idea of hanging underwear of different styles on a line has an effect somewhere between bizarre and simple. About the composition, the photographer says: “I wanted to approach this – based on your photo contest “Generations” – with a bit of humor, and that’s when I had the idea of three underpants on a clothing line from three generations (here: son, father and grandfather from our family). They should be in ascending order of size and also represent a bit of the respective fashion taste of the generation/time.”

snowflake in the picture Crack dg9ncc is particularly impressive because of the contrast between the dark, untouched part and the light, broken part. This effect is especially effective when applied in black and white. This scene doesn’t really fit the current season, but because of the distance in time, the scene in the photo is a bit more distant, which makes it something special.

The picture is very beautiful evening atmosphere in a sunflower field By Christian Landgraf (Lena-13). The minimalist composition is combined with the warm colors of the sky and flowers to create a beautiful scene.
She “went out with photography friends to take photos of a field full of sunflowers, a beautiful summer motif anyway. But after sunset the sky revealed itself in amazing colors. And once again that last photo was the most beautiful.” The photographer tells us about her evening excursion.

Gallery photographer Metapics is known for his minimalist image compositions and showcasing his photographs forward beach 2 Once again, how beautifully this design choice can be implemented. The group with the dog almost looks like something out of a sketch as they walk behind each other in single file. The highly exposed environment puts him in the spotlight and the large puddle in the foreground creates additional negative space. The entire scene appears to be a high-key shot, but there are some colors left. This and the framing chosen by the photographer create a look that is reminiscent of film and cinema.
