Roborock Qrevo S in the test: It has everything a good vacuum robot needs

0

With the Qrevo S, Roborock has brought a significant improvement to the original Qrevo model (test report) to the market. The new Qrevo S offers higher suction power, better mopping functions and a more compact cleaning station. Despite these improvements, the price remains moderate compared to other models in the Qrevo series. In the test, we checked how the model performs in everyday life.

What are the key features of the Roborock Qrevo S?

  • 7,000 Pascal suction power
  • Laser Navigation
  • 3D obstacle detection
  • Rotating and Lifting Mops
  • Cleaning Station with Mop Laundry and Suction
  • Drying the mop with hot air

At the time of testing, the Roborock Qrevo S was available with voucher code POWEREBAY5 617 Euros to keep. It comes in black and white.

How is the design and quality of the Roborock Qrevo S?

The design of the Roborock Qrevo S is similar to that of the original Qrevo. The quality of workmanship is good, but Roborock has removed decorative elements such as the chrome-plated Roborock logo or the metal-looking laser tower in the new model. Instead our test sample is completely black. On the top of the vacuum robot, just in front of the laser tower, there are two LED-illuminated rubber buttons. These buttons provide basic control by pressing the buttons for different periods of time.

At the front you can see obstacle avoidance hardware called Reactive Tech. On the side is a wall distance sensor and on the back is charging contacts, a suction hole and a nozzle for filling water. On the bottom of the Roborock Qrevo S is a fully rubberized floor brush and a side brush made of plastic bristles. You can also see a carpet sensor as well as two large mops and four fall sensors.

The transparent dust container with fine dust filter holds 330 ml and has a non-return flap that prevents the drawn dirt from falling out again. The cleaning station of the Roborock Qrevo S is not only a charging station, but also takes care of mop washing, water tank filling, mop drying and dust container suction. It is slightly more compact than its predecessor.

What can the Roborock Qrevo S app do?

The Roborock app, as always, is user-friendly and offers a wide range of functions. It enables the individual design of the room map, the setting of exclusion zones and virtual walls, as well as the adjustment of cleaning performance for individual rooms. It shows a detailed room map and automatically allocates rooms, after which users are allowed to make adjustments. Exclusion zones and virtual walls can be set up easily.

In addition, the app allows the use of different cleaning modes and allows the suction power and mopping intensity to be adjusted. It also controls the functions of the cleaning station, including mop washing, water tank filling, mop drying and dust container suction. Here, too, there are many options for the user to intervene. The same applies to access to robot settings, including obstacle detection and cleaning modes. The app also provides access to various settings and protocols, including cleaning protocols and maintenance alerts.

How good is the navigation and obstacle detection on the Qrevo S?

Thanks to laser navigation, the Roborock Qrevo S travels in a straight path and builds an accurate spatial map. Obstacle avoidance, called Reactive Tech, detects oncoming objects and avoids them – at least in theory. It works well for the most part, but sometimes the robot evades detected obstacles or ignores cables. Reactive AI, which is used in higher-priced models starting with the Roborock Qrevo MaxV (test report), is clearly stronger. But Reactive Tech is definitely better than nothing.

The Roborock Qrevo S starts its journey from the edge of the room and then moves in straight, overlapping paths towards the center. It avoids objects, furniture and walls and even maneuvers itself into tight spaces to reach every corner.

How well does the Roborock Qrevo S vacuum and mop?

The station thoroughly rinses the mop before, after and during each cleaning. Fresh water is poured onto the mop, which then circulates in the removable washing bowl and is thus cleaned. Dirty water is drained directly into the waste water tank. Disadvantage compared to more expensive models: The mop is not rinsed with hot water.

While cleaning the two rotating mops, the station also pumps fresh water into the robot’s 80 ml internal water tank to keep the mops constantly moist during cleaning. After each cleaning and rinsing of the mop, the station also dries the mops with hot air. This process takes a few hours and is certainly audible, but prevents unpleasant odors and must therefore be tolerated.

The cleaning station automatically vacuums the robot’s dust container so the user doesn’t have to empty it manually. A rapid negative pressure pulls dirt into a dust bag, which closes automatically when removed – this is about twice as fast as a large vacuum cleaner, about 15 seconds. The station’s washing bowl can be removed for cleaning and rinsed with clean water. This should be done at least every few times because, unlike some competitors, dirt is left behind.

The suction power of the Roborock Qrevo S is very good. With its 7,000 Pascal suction power, it achieves excellent, top-level results on hard floors and carpets. On carpeted floors, the Qrevo S cannot come close to the more expensive Elite, but it also delivers a strong result. It only surrenders at some point, especially on high-pile carpet, but this does not make the competition any better. Since the model does not have an extendable side brush or an extendable mop, some dirt may remain on the edge.

Speaking of mopping: The Roborock Qrevo S has two rotating mops that spin at a speed of 200 revolutions per minute. These are pressed onto the floor with ample pressure and are intended to remove even stubborn dirt. It actually works surprisingly well; in testing, the Roborock Qrevo S completely removed stubborn dirt such as coffee stains or ketchup splashes. The mop picks up a lot of dirt and spreads very little, as long as the amount of dirt is not very high.

Very helpful: The Roborock Qrevo S automatically lifts its mops by 1 cm when carpet is detected. This means the carpet stays largely dry and the cleaning job can be continued in one go. In testing, the Qrevo S managed about 140 square meters of gross living space with a single battery charge.

Price: How much does the Roborock Qrevo S cost?

conclusion

The Roborock Qrevo S is a good vacuum robot that impresses in many areas, even if it doesn’t come close to significantly more expensive models. It offers strong suction power, an effective mopping function and a user-friendly app. The practical cleaning station takes over many manual tasks and ensures that the robot cleans thoroughly. The main compromise has to be made when cleaning edges, as extendable side brushes or rotating mops are reserved for higher-priced models. 3D object recognition also doesn’t come close to more expensive devices. If you are looking for a reliable vacuum robot with strong performance and extensive automation and don’t want to spend more than 1000 euros, the Roborock Qrevo S is the right choice.
