Blackmagic is now introducing its free Camera app for the iPad for the first time and now makes it possible to film with multiple iPhones in parallel and control it centrally. A related update came out a few days ago. Version 2.0 also introduces HD recording at a frame rate of 100fps on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. This allows you to create more seamless-looking recordings.

Since its launch in September 2023, Blackmagic’s camera app has quickly become a popular alternative to the iPhone camera app. Apparently to promote its own cameras and post-production software DaVinci Resolve, Blackmagic is offering its own camera app. It includes features that were previously only available in more expensive third-party apps like Filmic Pro. Their switch to a subscription model after the app was sold and the dismissal of existing staff angered many film fans. Blackmagic Camera offered them an alternative. Users can adjust settings such as frame rate, shutter angle, white balance and ISO directly in the app. Recordings can be saved in 10-bit Apple ProRes files up to 4K.
Control Multiple iPhone Cameras Centrally
The Blackmagic Camera was also released for Android devices in June. The camera app also gives Blackmagic Cloud users easy access to make iPhone recordings available there and keep in touch with other users. So it’s also aimed at professional users who want to work together on projects.
With version 2.0, Downloaded for free from the App Store Blackmagic is now competing with Apple and its multi-camera controls in the Final Cut camera. Apple’s update was presented in the spring. The Blackmagic app can now be used to remotely control multiple iPhones as cameras and control their image capture centrally. With the new iPad version, users now have more screen space to control different camera perspectives.
