Leaks, leaks and more leaks
As Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman writes in his latest newsletter, they are “Due very soon”So a product briefing with the media has been planned for the coming week. Data on the devices had already appeared in regulatory databases in December, including US communications regulator FCCAt least according to the iOS 18 images, there should be at least four colors. There you can see variants in grey, black, purple and orange (towards tangerine).
The design has become slightly more compact than its predecessors, but the stem of the plug is still a bit thick. The specific hook for the outer ear remains so that the sports equipment does not fall to the ground during physical activities. As always, Apple is likely to include a charging case. What this looks like is still unclear. Internally, it is expected that Apple will include active noise cancellation (ANC), which was missing on the Powerbeats Pro. Then there should also be a transparency mode that you can turn on. Local audio is also reportedly coming.
Audio linked with health for the first time
Apple had already removed the previous Powerbeats Pro 2 models from the market in the fall. Since then we have been waiting for a successor. Apple already has sports earbuds in its range with the Beats Fit Pro that have ANC. However, they are likely to fall out of your ears more easily during intensive use than the new Powerbeats Pro 2.
An interesting new feature will initially be exclusive to the new devices: the Powerbeats Pro 2 is said to be the first Apple or Beats device in the audio field to also include health tracking. The plug should have sensors that record heart rate. This should then be sent to the Apple Health app. It is not clear whether the measurement occurs permanently or not, as is the case with the Apple Watch. Additionally, expect long battery life and a “Find My Device” function, which is also compatible with Google’s “Find My Device.”
