Vacuum cleaner specialist Dyson has now introduced its second Bluetooth headphone: the Ontrack blocks out unwanted sound using ANC, can be paired in different colours and, unlike the Dyson Zone, does not have a face mask, including air purification.

This makes the Ontrack a fairly generic, circumaural ANC headphone. Dyson wants to stand out from the crowd primarily through customisability. Buyers can put together different colours of the Ontrack. The end caps and ear cushions are available in different colours that can be combined freely.

55 hours of battery life
In addition, Dyson emphasizes the quality of the active noise cancellation – tests show whether the Ontrack really outperforms the competition from Sony, Bose and Co. Dyson promises that with active noise cancellation, the battery should last up to 55 hours. That’s comparatively long. Strictly speaking, the Ontrack has two batteries that are placed symmetrically in the headphone bracket and are intended to ensure even weight distribution. Manufacturers usually install the batteries in the ear cups.
Dyson wants to offer its Ontrack headphones in some ready-made color combinations for 500 euros. If you want to make your headphones more personal, you can buy end caps – a set costs 50 euros. The new Dyson headphones will be available from August 1.
Dyson’s previous headphones were a curiosity: the Dyson Zone came with a face mask that was supposed to clean the air in front of the mouth. In the Heise+ test, this mask attached to the ear cup turned out to be a shabby plastic part that made noise and attracted unwanted attention. The Dyson mask also reduced battery life. The sound of the Dyson Zone was already good – the manufacturer can build on that with Ontrack.
