According to financial news agency Bloomberg iOS 19 is known by the internal name “Luck”, macOS 16 apparently calls itself “Cheer”, watchOS 12 “Nepali” and VisionOS 3 “Discovery”. Apple always begins work on new systems shortly before their previous versions are available. iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15 aka Sequoia, watchOS 11 and VisionOS 2 are expected to arrive from September.

It is said that Apple is currently in the process of determining the new features that will come with the update. The central innovations within Apple Intelligence, including support for more languages and smarter Siri, are expected to appear with iOS 18 and company. However, Apple is likely to move forward with iOS 19 and other operating systems. Similar to iCloud, AI features are a new central pillar for Apple. Updates are expected more frequently than the cloud offering. “The future of the organization may depend on it.”

It is not entirely clear whether AI services will be prepared for Apple’s headset before VisionOS 3. However, Apple Intelligence has not been announced for the Vision Pro at the moment. According to Bloomberg, technically this is not a problem. Apple is actively working on it at the moment. The Vision Pro works with the M2 SoC, has 16 GB of RAM and therefore easily overcomes the hardware barriers required for the local large language models used by Apple.

Functions such as AI sorting of notifications, text and image generation and support for ChatGPT may appear with the update to VisionOS 2, especially since the software is internally believed to be based on iPadOS technology, for which Apple intelligence has long been announced. Cloud use should not be a problem with Vision Pro, the infrastructure is quite robust.
