The new Mate 6 features a 7.93-inch foldable interior display, complemented by a 6.45-inch exterior display. These are two LTPO OLED displays. The maximum brightness of the internal display is 1800 nits, the maximum brightness of the external display is 2500 nits. They are equipped with a particularly strong second-generation “Kunlun” glass according to Huawei. The manufacturer says this means the display is 25 times more resistant to drops.

According to Huawei, the multi-dimensional folding hinge features an aluminum midframe with “aerospace grade”. The built-in aperture camera has 50 MP and ten physical aperture sizes between F1.0 and F4.0. Huawei also touts Ultra Chroma technology, which uses 1.5 million spectral channels to increase color accuracy by up to 120 percent.

The Mate 6 variant for the international market runs Android AOSP-based operating system EMUI 15.0, with Huawei’s HarmonyOS installed in its place in China. The problem with both: Google services are missing entirely due to US sanctions. In the future, Huawei wants to completely move away from Android with its smartphones. Unfortunately, future Mate 6 owners will have to make do without 5G.

Battery capacity is 5110 mAh. For comparison: the Galaxy Fold 6 has a battery capacity of 4,400 mAh. The Mate 6 can be recharged quickly from 66W; Wirelessly it is 55 watts.

Partly accompanied by impressive key data is also an impressive price: so far only 7,199 dirhams have been officially published as numbers since the device was presented in Dubai. Without German VAT it is approximately 1,870 euros. In Huawei’s official shop, Huawei offers a discount of 200 euros for pre-order. The campaign starts on January 17th and runs until February 26th – so deliveries to Market City shouldn’t be scheduled until the end of February.
