A total of 185 employees are affected, including about 65 employees of Ubisoft Daseldorf. Ubisoft’s Daseldorf Studio was long known as Blue Bite and made its name mainly with “The Settlers” Games. The latest part of the series “The Settlers: New Alainses” received a faded review after a turbulent development story. According to the statement, other German studios of Ubisoft in Berlin and Menz, where “ANO 117” are currently being created, will not be affected by job cuts.

Ubisoft has been in deep crisis for months after several titles have been lower than expectations. Long-standing growths such as “C of Thews” and “Star Wars Outtrows” were slowly sold, and the upcoming “Asisins Creed” game “shadow” had to be postponed several times. The French company’s stock price fell by 40 percent last year.

Therefore, Ubisoft wants to save cost: in 2025/2026 financial year, there should be more than 200 million euros in a fixed cost compared to 2022/2023 financial year. A part of the savings program is to cut jobs and studios.

In a call recently with investors, Guilmot talked about several ways to get out of the crisis – but did not want to answer many doubtful questions about how these methods could be seen. Apparently a hope lies in finding a buyer. Especially the Chinese technical group tenant is considered a candidate for the possible acquisition of Ubisoft. In addition to 9.2 percent shares of Ubisoft, Tencent also holds 49.9 percent of Ubisoft CEO Yaves Guilmot’s family holding company.
