The Fiido C11 Pro is an upgrade to the Fiido C11 we already tested. With a motor of up to 250 watts and a torque sensor, it aims to surpass its predecessor. Is the additional fee of 200 euros justified? We tested the Fiido C11 Pro.
The Fiido C11 Pro is based on the Fiido C11 (test report) which we have already tested. The motor was reduced from the original 500 watts to 250 watts to comply with legal requirements in Germany. Furthermore, instead of a simple speed sensor, a more accurate torque sensor is now used, which aims to ensure a more natural driving experience. Visually something has also changed: the saddle and handles are no longer black, but come in elegant brown.
Fiido is currently charging for the C11 Pro 1099 eurosWhile for the previous model C11 899 euros Should be. But despite the improvements and engine throttling, the C11 Pro is still not approved for German roads. The reason for this is the thumb grip to increase speed and the electronic horn – neither of which are allowed in this country. Our testing shows how the Fiido C11 Pro performs in practice.
Structure, optics and workmanship
Visually, the Fiido C11 Pro cuts a striking figure. The dark green version of our test model in particular looks high-quality and beautiful with its paintwork that sparkles in the sunlight. The use of brown leather on the handles and saddle makes the e-bike even better, even if they are only a small change from its black predecessor.
One point of criticism is the messy cable management on the handlebar – Fido could have found a more elegant solution here. Positives: The frame offers low entry, making the C11 Pro suitable for people in skirts or even seniors.
The ergonomically shaped handlebar can be adjusted in height and angle, allowing individual adjustment to the rider’s body shape. However, the frame is quite compact, so people taller than 1.90 meters may feel a little cramped on it.
Handlebar and Display
All important controls are located on the handlebar. The bike computer’s small color display is on the left. It’s still easy to read even in direct sunlight. Here the motor support can be controlled at three levels. It also provides information about daily and total kilometers driven, driving time, maximum speed and battery charge, displayed in five bars. The electronic horn is placed lower, which is practical but not allowed in Germany. This is also not allowed: a simple key combination increases the maximum speed.
The twist grip for the 7-speed gear and the thumb grip for the engine controls are located on the right side of the handlebar. The latter is also banned on public German roads. Next to it is a small, mechanical bell.
The lighting on the Fiido C11 Pro is exemplary. The front lights illuminate the path brightly over a large area without dazzling oncoming traffic. The very bright rear light also serves as a brake light. The only point of criticism: the taillights can blind other road users.
Pleases: The e-bike offers mudguards on the front and rear wheels as standard, as well as a sturdy luggage rack for loads up to 25 kg. Overall, the C11 Pro can support a weight ranging from about 25 kg to 120 kg. If necessary, a basket can be fitted to the front of the frame.
To drive
The Fiido C11 Pro is extremely comfortable to drive and the new torque sensor makes a decisive contribution to this. It provides natural and direct support for the 250-watt motor, which is a significant improvement over its predecessor’s simple motion sensor. Despite the throttling, the rear engine has enough power to carry even heavy riders up slight slopes with ease.
The 27.5-inch tires with a width of 1.6 inches provide adequate grip in urban terrain with their profile. The quick release allows the front wheel to be removed without any tools. The hydraulic brakes work great straight away.
Battery
At less than 500 Wh, the battery capacity of the Fiido C11 Pro is quite good. The Fiido claims a maximum range of just over 100 km. However, we consider this value to be very optimistic and can only be achieved under ideal conditions – i.e. light riders in warm temperatures, with a height of a few meters and a consistent driving style at low speeds.
In our testing with an 85 kg driver, temperatures about 2 degrees cooler, a lot of stop-and-go traffic and fast driving on some slopes, we came up with a more realistic 40 to 45 km.
The battery, which is neatly integrated into the frame, can be removed for charging using a key. It takes about 4 to 5 hours to fully charge using the included charger at home.
price
with 1099 euros The Fiido C11 Pro is not a cheap deal. We would have liked full StVO compliance for this price range. Previous model C11 is without torque sensor 899 euros 200 euros cheaper. In our opinion, this is quite a hefty surcharge for the innovations introduced, even if the overall package is perfect and the price is still attractive compared to similarly equipped e-bikes.
conclusion
The Fiido C11 Pro is a stylish and comfortable e-bike in a low-entry format. In particular the new torque sensor ensures a nice and natural driving experience – a clear improvement over the predecessor Fiido C11 (test report). The price has also increased by 200 euros. It’s a shame: despite reducing the motor to 250 watts, the C11 Pro is still not StVO-compliant and therefore not approved for German roads. Small optical retouches like the brown saddle and handles further enhance the elegant appearance, but are also a nice addition.
Still, the Fiido C11 Pro offers a great overall package with a powerful drive, high-quality design, and good features that leaves nothing to be desired. For low-level fans traveling on private property in Germany, it is worth a visit.
