For the first time, the Federal Chancellor has appeared as a guest on a program on MagentaTV+. In the talk show series “Best Cast”, Olaf Scholz answers questions from moderator Johannes B. Kerner. Alternatively, you can watch an hour-and-a-half recording of the Chancellor’s summer press conference from Wednesday afternoon today on public television station Phoenix Posted on Youtube. In it, Scholz commented, among other things, on the ban on the Compact magazine. Freedom of the press means you can say “a lot of nonsense”, but it also has the limits of criminal law. When dealing with new media on the Internet, Scholz advised “inner strength”: “Let them talk.”
Scholz further said that his government’s priority is to keep Germany at the forefront of technology. For example, his goal with investments is to make the German semiconductor industry the largest in Europe. According to Scholz, he has intervened several times with the EU Commission to ensure that vehicles running on e-fuel are still allowed to operate in view of the ban on combustion engines. It took a lot of strength to “box it in”. He expressed satisfaction that this is what everyone wants now. From 2035, there will be many technological options in addition to electric cars, such as hydrogen-powered vehicles. Scholz has promised a “boost” for German electric car manufacturers.

On Magenta TV, Scholz comments on political and social issues such as challenges in the labour market, the war in Ukraine, migration and developments in the US presidential election campaign. The Federal Chancellery has not yet responded to Heise Online’s questions about the chancellor participating in an interview on the pay-TV channel.
