Development environment Qt Creator 15 brings native support for Windows on ARM

Qt Creator has reached version 15. The new major version of the cross-platform development environment offers pre-built binaries for Windows on ARM (exclusively the 64-bit version) for the first time. This brings it to the level of the Qt 6.8 framework, which also introduced support for this architecture in October 2024. Additional updates include updated light and dark themes, new extension mode features, and the official availability of the Axivian plugin.

Qt Creator brings 15 new light and dark themes with high contrast and optimized spacing. they are through Preferences > Environment > Interface > Theme Available under the names “Dark (2024)” and “Light (2024)”. Current topics have also been given a year number to make them easier to identify.

The development team also worked on extension modes. Thanks to Markdown, extensions can now provide more detailed and well-formatted descriptions. Extension Mode will be further expanded in future releases.

Axivion’s plug-in for static code analysis has now left preview status and is now officially available in Qt Creator. Developers can view the Axivion code analysis view directly in debug mode. This development comes following the acquisition of Axivion GmbH by QT Company in 2022.

Further updates in Qt Creator 15 relate to CMake projects and Git version management, as well as optional automatic crash reporting on Windows and macOS via Google Crashpad and Sentry.io.
