Apple’s global marketing boss Greg Joswiak has promised a “week full of exciting announcements” about new Macs on Platform X starting next Monday (October 28, 2024). This is unusual in many ways, as Apple’s main accounts usually announce such events themselves, and product presentations are also routinely made at a larger event – or in a simple press release.

Marketing boss spoils new Mac
It’s unclear in what form the new Macs will be presented, either only through video or perhaps at several live events. Post Not major. However, the fact that there was no invitation to any press event goes against this. However, there will likely be an event for “Creator” in Los Angeles next week, as reported this week.
Since Joswiak clearly points toward Macs, at least the direction is clear: Apple’s latest SoC, the M4, was also introduced in the iPad Pro in May, so it’s time to bring it to Macs as well.
Apple Intelligence for all devices
This announcement was apparently necessary for Apple as rumors had increased in recent weeks. A new MacBook Pro, an iMac, and a redesigned Mac mini will be at the event. The latter should be much smaller than its predecessors, which have remained virtually unchanged for ten years, and offer five USB-C ports. All computers should be equipped with Apple Intelligence, which is scheduled to debut as an update to operating systems (iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS 15.1) on October 28, 2024.

It is not yet known whether Apple will also update the expensive professional devices Mac Studio and Mac Pro to M4. According to earlier reports, this will not happen until next year.
