Sky is losing attractive content
Max emerged from the two streaming services HBO Max and Discovery+ a year ago, and the merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery a year and a half ago. Discovery+ was available in Germany, but played little role due to its weak content. The more exciting of the two previously separate services is HBO Max, which is not available in Germany due to its contract with Sky. It was not allowed to immediately introduce joint service in this country – it was unclear for a long time what would happen next. The introduction of Max is likely to be a challenge, especially for Sky.
With Max, Warner Bros. Discovery has launched an attack on Disney+ and Netflix and announced a whole range of content based on well-known brands. This includes another series in the “Game of Thrones” universe and a series adaptation of “Harry Potter.” Several films are also in the works in the “Lord of the Rings” universe, and the anime “War of the Rohirrim” will hit theaters for the first time in December. By spring, Max had reached nearly 100 million subscribers worldwide.
