Sony wants to film more video game brands. In its CES keynote on Tuesday night, the Japanese company announced film adaptations of “Helldivers” and “Horizon Zero Dawn.” In addition, the samurai action game “Ghost of Tsushima” is to be implemented as an anime series.

Sony has already had positive experience with film adaptations of its major game brands – for example with the film “Uncharted” and the HBO series “The Last of Us.” Not only can films and series be successful in their own right, but they also always increase sales of the corresponding video games. Sony can also market its gaming brands to its specific gaming target groups.
Sony has the advantage of having filmmakers in-house compared to other game studios: “Helldivers” is produced by Sony Pictures, while “Horizon” is developed by Columbia Pictures in collaboration with PlayStation Productions. It is not yet known when the films will be released in theatres.

The “Horizon” games are about a post-apocalyptic game world in which people organized into tribes must contend with robotic machines that are responsible for the apocalypse.
