There is now a large range of vacuum and mopping robots with suction stations available. The price range is just as variable as the performance of the devices. We have summarized what vacuum robots can now achieve in our top list of the best vacuum robots. However, these models do not cost just under 400 euros, like the Roidmi Eve Max, but up to 1400 euros. The comparison is flawed, but the Eve Max can still deliver amazing results. In the test, we take a closer look at the affordable vacuum and mopping robot and check whether it delivers what it promises.

How is the design?
Our test sample of the Roidmi Eve Max is matte white and has black markings on the laser turret and other places. Like most models, the basic shape of the Roidmi Eve Max vacuum cleaner is round. The vacuum cleaner has a side brush on the front right, and two D-shaped mops protrude slightly from the housing at the back. The front bumper of the vacuum cleaner is equipped with a laser for object detection. The black laser turret at the top is placed in the middle of the robot. On the surface of the robot in front of it is a carefully designed circular control panel with a power button in the middle. There are also two additional buttons to the left and right of the power button for pausing or setting rooms.
You can also use the buttons to turn the child lock on and off. The main brush on the underside of the vacuum cleaner uses a mix of curved rows of bristles and rubber lips. At the back of the robot is a water tank and a dust collection container with two mops.

The suction station appears quite small compared to the other robots from our tests and, due to its curves, is almost organic. There is a lid on top of the station for changing the dust bag if necessary. An LED display can be seen in the upper part of the front. Also below is the robot’s charging holder with charging contacts and a dust extraction device. The charging port is located on the back of the suction station.
How easy is it to set up the Roidmi Eve Max?
Putting the Roidmi Eve Max into operation is quick and easy. The robot comes with a card with quick start instructions. These instructions and two QR codes for two different Roidmi Eve Max apps make it easy to get started. We chose the Roidmi app. After installing and connecting the station and filling the water container, the vacuum and mopping robot can be put into operation via the Roidmi app. The software for cell phones explains each step in detail. After downloading and installing the app, we just had to connect the robot to our WiFi.
How well does the Roidmi Eve Max navigate and vacuum?
The Roidmi Eve Max is equipped with obstacle avoidance. This technology on the front of the robot allows it to scan obstacles using structured light. This means that you don’t have to clean before you start vacuuming – at least in theory. In the test, this only works to a limited extent. Larger objects such as shoes, dogs, children’s toys larger than a normal coffee cup and furniture are reliably detected and avoided, even if some objects are lightly touched. Anything smaller than a coffee cup is rarely recognized by the robot and reaches it without braking. In practice this means: We have to clean before vacuuming, but this is also recommended with top models and is therefore not surprising.
Otherwise, the Roidme Eve Max behaves as usual and is unobtrusive. After the robot is put into operation for the first time, it scans and measures the room along the wall. This creates a virtual map that can be viewed in the app. After the measurements, the robot follows its path in space in a structured and systematic way. Also in normal operation, the robot starts at the edges and then follows a straight path through the rest of the room. In the test, door thresholds of about 1 cm were crossed without any problems, so that the vacuum cleaner can be used even in older apartments.
The suction power increases automatically on carpets. However, during testing, we found that the increase in suction power was quite delayed. This also applies to lifting the mop, so that the first few centimeters of the carpet are always slightly damp when driving, while on hard floors behind the carpet the first centimeters are not immediately re-mopped. Roidmi specifies the maximum suction power of the Roidmi Eve Max as 5000 Pascals. This puts the robot in the middle range in terms of suction power. Nevertheless, overall we are very satisfied with the suction results.
As already mentioned above, a combination brush is installed, which consists of rubber slats and bristles to clean dirt even from deep carpet fibers. However, long hairs tend to get wrapped around the brush and therefore the hair must be regularly removed from the brush by hand. During the cleaning process, the robot regularly visits the station and vacuums the collected dirt.
The mopping cloth is attached to a moving mopping plate via Velcro and provides two movable areas. The mopping plate moves automatically downwards on hard floors and upwards on carpets, albeit with a slight delay. As with the Roborock model, the rapid movement removes dirt much better than using a stationary cloth. The mopping performance is actually quite acceptable, but the bottom line is that it is still more suitable for dusting only. Because the mopping cloth is not cleaned in between, the absorption capacity of the material is severely limited and then the dirt is actually spread around the apartment.
As usual, the corners of the room are not cleaned when vacuuming or mopping. An extendable mop or even an extendable side brush would help here, but these functions are currently reserved for much higher-priced models. Unfortunately, the side brush that is installed on the Roidmi Eve Max does not help here; it is for normal edge travel. Small carpets or rugs do not bother the vacuum cleaner, it usually does not move them. The Roidmi Eve Max also vacuums carpets up to about 1.5 cm thick.
How is the battery performance of the Roidme Eve Max?
The Roidmi Eve Max has a surprisingly good battery life. In testing, the Roidmi Eve Max cleaned around 120 square metres (gross) with a single battery charge. This means that the robot can do as much work as some of its more expensive competitors. However, when comparing the number of square metres, you should also take into account other conditions, such as the layout of the room or the furniture in the room, as these can also affect battery performance.

On paper, the Roidmi Eve Max is quite a bargain among vacuums and mopping robots with suction station. In addition to the positive price-performance ratio, we also particularly like the large number of square meters that the vacuum cleaner covers in one cleaning process thanks to its battery power. Unfortunately, we were unable to test the battery performance of the vacuum cleaner for a long time because the device failed during the test and could no longer be connected to the WLAN. Even a reset did not help us here; our test device remained inoperative. After a brief search on the Internet, we found several similar cases with other Roidmi models, which makes it difficult to recommend the Eve Max. This also devalues the product.
When it’s running, the robot vacuum cleaner does its job well. We believe the suction and wiping performance is good overall and the suction station also makes life easier for the owner. The mopping function is good for the price range, but there is no automatic cleaning of the mopping cloth like in more expensive models. In addition, obstacle detection still needs work, as it easily misses small parts in the robot’s path. Despite the fierce competition, the Roadmi Eve Max has no need to hide in terms of price-performance ratio, as it has a lot to offer for less than 360 euros.
