The creators of the Netflix series “Love, Death and Robots” are filming several video games in a new anthology series. The short films from game brands such as “God of War”, “Pac-Man” and “Unreal Tournament” will be bundled under the name “Secret Levels” and appear on Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service later in the year.

Each of the 15 episodes aims to tell a different story of a popular gaming brand, including unreleased titles. The series was announced by “Love, Death & Robots” showrunner Tim Miller in an emotional appearance at Gamescom’s opening show. Miller said the subject is very close to his heart.
The following video game series are being filmed at the “secret level”:
- “Armored Corps”
- “Concorde”
- “Crossfire”
- “Dungeons & Dragons”
- “Escape”
- “Honor of Kings”
- “Mega Man”
- “New World: Aeternum”
- “Pac-Man”
- PlayStation games like God of War and Ghost of Tsushima
- “Sifu”
- “Spelunky”
- “The Outer Worlds”
- “unreal Tournament”
- “Warhammer 40,000”
Colourful mix of themes
What is amazing is the mix of different genres that the creators of “Love, Death and Robots” capture with this selection. In addition to PlayStation’s blockbuster brands, the list also includes classics like “Pac-Man” or “Unreal Tournament” and indie gems like “Spelunky”. It also has the ability to address a wide range of topics – from hard sci-fi in “Warhammer 40k” to light fantasy stories in “Dungeons & Dragons”. However, the format is aimed at adults overall.
Amazon wasn’t completely selfless when it came to choosing brands: The MMO role-playing game “New World: Aeternum” is also an Amazon brand among the filmed video games.
CGI studio Blur Studio, which animated both highly acclaimed seasons of “Love, Death & Robots”, is working with Amazon’s MGM Studios on the production. The anthology series “Secret Level” will be available on Prime Video from December 15.
