Open-ear headphones add great sound and maximum comfort promises without compromising in safety, for example when bicycles ride. Because the ambient noise is always noticeable with open-ears. With the opening of earbuds, Honor has sent its model to the race, with the price of which 150 Euro (Amazon) was played at least at the top of the cost. For this, the manufacturer promises an excellent sound experience for 16 mm drivers, customized comfort and useful features such as multipoint interactions and AI translator. Honor provides earbuds in colors in white and black, leading to a large extent based on the standard for open-ear headphones: the earbuds open contains an ear piece and a flexible silicone bracket. Outside the earpiece is a bright metal plate, in which we operate the headphones on the surface of the touch.

The visually, complete construction with charging case, especially in white, does not meet our taste. But you can argue about it. If you choose a white model, you get a cover with the inner life of skin -colored plastic. The earbuds lying there then reminiscent of hearing devices compared to the noble headphone compared to the honor, which promote us.

The case is made of plastic, but the surface is reminiscent of rough leather. A small LED provides information about the case and the loading status of the headphone, while the connection to the USB-C charging cable is located at the back, which is not included. Shell’s hinge, just like a loading case, creates a properly processed impression. Shell Stone is strong enough to avoid one and a half meters on the floor, but the headphones again get out of the open case. The headphones are preserved against dirt and splatter water as per the IP54 standard.

The Honor clearly advertises high comfort of earbuds. In testing, the headphones can celebrate in this regard: with a weight of 7.9 grams, the earbuds are pleasant light, but at the same time the ear iron manufacture at the same time is firmly sitting on the ear cup due to the construction of the ear iron. The headphones nest well on both small and large ears and do not slip even when you shake your head violently. Earbuds are ideal for open sports activities such as jogging or fitness.

With the battery life, you also have to cut back, because according to the manufacturer, this is only six hours. With a charging case, the operating time increases to 22 hours, with 75 minutes to charge earbuds. Battery life, which we can confirm in medium volume in our test, is more in the lower region for such a headphone. Nothing makes the ear (open) better here with eight hours.

When operating the earbuds, the Honor chose to combine the touch and wipe gestures, which surprisingly work well in the test. We can regulate the volume by wiping the gesture, stop with simple or multiple touch and start playback or switch back and forth between several titles. We can also activate ANC through the touch panel. In the test, the casual touch of earbuds rarely leads to wrong input, otherwise the headphones also react to our orders without delay.

The app requires a user account for which you are registered with an email address. Registration is not possible through Google account or comparable account.

The coupling of earbuds with a playback device, such as a smartphone, works through Bluetooth 5.2 and without app. You can then configure ambient noise suppression while calling, use multipoint interactions or activate AI translator. The latter works only in combination with the app. We can choose from many languages ​​including Chinese, English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian and Turkey.

We can use the app to be translated or add text to enter the keyboard and then display and read translations. Only translation is the option of translation through the headphone output or headphone and smartphone speakers. In practice, AI translation works with translator of Google, but does not provide a significant benefit on existing solutions.

Because the sound of honor headphones becomes solid, but the test is not outstanding. In the case of spoken material, the sound looks quite warm, but sometimes there is a slight scratch. The latter is especially important for sharp S-sounds, which means that the heights open on the sound almost shrink. Overall, in podcast, audio books and average in the company, they create a decent impression.

The venture of scratch is particularly clear in playing music. In the case of Pink Floid’s “Time”, he reaches an unpleasant climax for the guitar rifts. Meanwhile, sufficient amounts remain in no strange kind of blurred and yellow color. The same impression also angrily “knows her enemy” against machines. Here the guitars are scratched and sharp, almost tinry, and the songs are strangely washed. A test of performance in a collision with the Buena Vista Social Club “Chan Chan” does not explain us, because washed -thorough, yellow and sometimes dull and weak bass at pungent heights. A wider equalizer could remove it. The voice of the Honor Yearbuds Open is disappointed.

The Honor states that headphones press up disturbed noise inside the house like wind or interaction. It works well in practical testing. The headphones also filter the potential noise when calling, so that we reach our dialogue. With loud noise such as cars or construction noise, the headphones are less well found.

Honor Yearbuds Open’s sound quality cannot be celebrated in testing. In addition, there is a much higher price than the competition mentioned, low battery life, real equality deficiency and design, which are sometimes used. The comfort of good wear cannot then not save the overall effect, so that we can only recommend a limited purchase for honor earbuds.
