“It’s Monday morning and the caffeine isn’t working yet” – Susanna Ray, Microsoft Source Writer, knows the solution: Just let the new AI agents do their job. In the future, all you have to do is tell them to do the work while you can take another sip of coffee and worry about the team’s long-term strategy. Ray’s blog post published in Ignite 2024 is titled, “How AI will change the way we work”. The former journalist writes such articles professionally for Microsoft.

In the future, AI agents will perform tasks such as responding to customer inquiries, finding errors in the supply chain, or filling out delivery notes. Microsoft’s chief marketing officer, Jared Spataro, talks about agents as new apps. They are each responsible for specific tasks and are rich with relevant knowledge. AI agents are available in the future as pre-built versions in Microsoft 365 and Dynamics 365, they can also be developed from scratch in Copilot Studio; Programming knowledge is not necessary for basic agent functions.
Microsoft delivers ready-made AI agents
Agents are now available in SharePoint, where they can process the content. New employee self-service agents also come to BizChat, the business chat in Microsoft 365 CoPilot. There they can answer questions about the employer, for example about travel expense reports. The purpose of a moderator agent is to help teams make meetings more effective. This presents a summary of content that employees can edit. What differs from the copilot’s summary is unknown to us. This feature is initially available only as a preview in the agent. There’s also a preview Project Manager agent, which can create and manage project plans.
The interpreter agent speaks nine languages and can translate in real time. If you want, you can provide your own voice, which the AI agent uses to speak to other participants in a meeting in another language. This agent is scheduled to appear next year.

So that no one loses track of all the agents, Copilot Studio will now have an agent library. There can also be the creation of agents that act autonomously, meaning they do not need to be prompted to do anything. For example, you can reply to emails – almost like an automated out-of-office reply, only with different conditions. There are also several new options and tools available for developing agents and AI applications through Copilot Studio and Azure AI, which were presented at Microsoft Ignite. This includes being able to upload images in the future and giving agents language skills. In addition to AI agents, Microsoft also introduced new features for its assistant Copilot.
