Apple is probably planning another quartet of models for the iPhone 17 – although there will be a partial reorganization of the line-up. At least that’s what a well-known Chinese leaker on the short message service Weibo claims. As “Ice Universe” wrote on Sunday, there will no longer be a Plus model. Instead, an iPhone 17 “slim” (or “Ultra”) will be released, which will be the new top model.

Top models with new starting price
Ice Universe believes that both the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro will have 6.27-inch LTPO OLED displays. In a table they put the price for each of the smallest models at either $799 or $1099 plus tax. The largest iPhone 17 is the 17 Pro Max, now 6.86 inches (also LTPO display) starting at $1,199. This is in line with the current price of the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
The iPhone 17 “slim” or “ultra” with a 6.65-inch LTPO display and a particularly flat housing will be completely new – already mentioned several times in the rumor mill. It should cost $1,299 plus tax in the starting version and will therefore be $100 more expensive than the current maximum rate. It can be expected that you will pay more than 2000 euros for the top device.
This is how thin the iPhone 17 “Slim” is.
The standard model of the iPhone 17 will have an LTPO panel for the first time and thus the famous Always On functionality with a variable refresh rate between 1 and 120 Hz. According to Ice Universe, the Pro model has 12 GB of RAM for the first time and all three rear cameras are equipped with 48 megapixels. All of them are supposed to be arranged next to each other in a strip.
The “Slim” aka “Ultra” is said to be the thinnest iPhone since 2017’s iPhone 8 – if not thinner. It was 7.3mm flat, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max is currently 8.25mm and the iPhone 15 standard is 7.8mm. For comparison: the 13-inch iPad Pro M4, Apple’s thinnest product ever, is 5.3mm thick. The iPhone 17 is not expected to arrive before September 2025. First, the iPhone 16 will also likely be launched in four variants in September.
