Consorsbank customers may face significant banking problems with their iPhone: it is not possible to log in to version 1.6.9 of the SecurePlus app, which was released as an update on Tuesday. Accordingly, TAN can no longer be generated, for example to approve transfers in online banking.

Update disables SecurePlus
The error apparently only occurs in the iOS version, but not the Android app. By default, updates occur automatically on the device. Instead of convenient log-in via Face ID, SecurePlus 1.6.9 asks users for the stored PIN again to unlock the TAN app. However, it is not possible to enter the number combination because a message dialog covers the field. This refers to “Essential Version Updates”, which were not originally found in the App Store. According to readers’ reports, the issue affected all iOS users, according to the bank’s hotline.
Consorsbank finally delivered late Tuesday evening Update to version 1.7.0 in the App StoreHowever, this did not immediately eliminate the error, as Mac and I were also able to determine on an editorial device: After entering the (correct) PIN, the annoying message appeared: “The SecurePlus PIN you entered was incorrect. You still have 0 more attempts.” Only when the app was forced to close and restart, PIN entry and subsequent access became possible.
Banking app redesign criticized
Users who can no longer log in to the SecurePlus app should first check the App Store to see if version 1.7.0 is already installed. Then it seems appropriate to “kill” the app using App Changer. To do this, swipe your finger from the bottom edge to the middle of the screen to open the App Changer and then slide up the reduced view of the ConsorsBank SecurePlus app to close it.
Consorsbank recently relaunched version 2 of its banking app. This no longer requires the SecurePlus app, but customers still need it to conduct banking transactions in the browser. However, the complete redesign of the banking app has faced considerable criticism, especially among iOS users: there are many 1-star reviews in the App Store with complaints about the new “more confusing” design and missing functions.
