Is Apple planning to make hardware changes when it introduces the “Apple Watch 10” aka “Apple Watch X”? Similar speculations have been circulating through rumor mills for a long time, after all, this year is the tenth anniversary of the launch of the Apple Watch. Apple introduced the first model of its computer watch in September 2014 and then brought it to market in spring 2015. According to this, there may be an anniversary model in 2024 or 2025. The first CAD renderings of the watch have now surfaced from Asia, suggesting at least some hardware changes.

As French smartphone blog 91mobiles writes, the display will be the largest ever on an Apple Watch. Accordingly, Apple is going from the current 1.7-inch screen to 2 inches on the larger model. It will also be larger than the current Apple Watch Ultra at 1.93 inches. The external dimensions are reportedly also increasing – “approximately” 46 mm × 39.7 mm × 11.6 mm. It will also be the largest regular Apple Watch ever. The renders also show that the screen edges of the Series X (or 10) are becoming noticeably thinner.

The CAD data that 91Mobiles is distributing is said to have come from “industry insiders”. However, it seems that nothing has changed in the basic design of the watch – so Apple is reportedly avoiding switching to the angular design that was repeatedly rumored years ago. The Digital Crown and side button remain in their familiar place, and the connection to the bracelet – which has remained fundamentally compatible for ten years – is said not to change.

The renders also do not show a new magnetic recording system for tapes, which had been speculated about in the meantime. 91mobiles also writes that the Series X/10 will likely be available in two sizes – this time 45 and 49 mm. Apple is currently delivering 41 and 45 mm for the Series 9. The Apple Watch Ultra 2, on the other hand, comes in 49 mm.

It is unclear what sensors the new watch models will get. There have long been speculations about blood pressure measurement that can at least detect deviations from the normal picture. The Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 were supposed to be quite boring upgrades; here Apple worked mainly on the internal workings, installed a new SoC and integrated a new fingertip gesture that makes one-handed operation easier.
