Apple Event 2024 confirmed for September 9 – iPhone 16 ahead

0

Apple will present new iPhone models this year on Monday, September 9, 2024. The company confirmed the event with the theme “It’s Glotime”. It will no longer be live, but streamed as a pre-recorded video. The event starts at 7 p.m. Central European Summer Time. Mac and I will join the event and announcements with a live ticker. The date was chosen a day earlier than originally expected, apparently in order not to get in the way of the TV duel between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump in the US election campaign, which is expected to take place on September 10.

Apple’s September event is usually all about the iPhone, this time the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro. Fundamental changes to the line-up or devices are not expected. Apple is expected to equip the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max with slightly larger displays. A new hardware button on the side will allow you to control the camera. Detail improvements can also be expected in the iPhone camera system. Apple is also expected to upgrade the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus with the action button that debuted in the Pro series last year.

Apple may also be focusing on its AI package Apple Intelligence; several features are still missing in the current beta – Apple Intelligence only runs on the iPhone 15 Pro, leaving out last year’s base model iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.

In addition to the iPhones, new smartwatches are also likely to be on the announcement list. A thinner Apple Watch Series 10 with a significantly larger display is expected; the larger model is said to be closer to the Ultra. So far, only minimal detail improvements have been speculated for the Apple Watch Ultra 3. In addition, new AirPods 4 are likely on Apple’s agenda, which are reportedly coming to the market in two versions – a new entry-level model and a version with active noise cancellation.

Apple may start accepting pre-orders for the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro from September 13 and the iPhone 16 may go on sale on September 20. Prices have not yet leaked, but will likely be based on the iPhone 15 series and range from 900 euros to perhaps over 2000 euros. Apple is expected to release an update to iOS 18 for the general public in mid-September.
