Canon is launching a new photo printer for professionals and ambitious amateurs. This means that prints up to DIN A2 format can be made in the office or at home, which, according to the manufacturer, are even better than the previous model imagePrograf PRO-1000 was able to produce.

Eleven newly developed pigment inks – there are twelve in total – as well as increased scratch resistance and light resistance aim to make the results of Canon’s new photo printing flagship particularly long-lasting. According to the manufacturer, abrasion resistance has been optimized, making handling easier and the material less vulnerable.

The advanced ink technology is aimed at better displaying the color gamut, color gradients and shadow areas compared to previous models and photo printers working with other inks. In addition to new developments, this is also ensured by a special clear ink (CO). Detail and depth that was previously impossible to display should now be visible on the print and can be taken one-to-one from the original image.

Canon says it has also made progress in terms of black and white motifs. Improved matte black ink is said to provide increased black density and “brings prints truly alive”. A detailed test will show how good the quality of the results of this device is in practice and whether the finer details are visible to the naked eye.

The manufacturer also highlights the workflow stability that comes from the use of inks and software in its PRO models. The imagePROGRAF PRO-6600, PRO-4600 and PRO-2600 models to which this should apply are specifically mentioned. The printer will be available from September this year at an RRP of 1,400 euros.
