The next version of the Apple Watch operating system watchOS will offer convenience functions that relate primarily to the areas of fitness and health. In watchOS 11 you can prevent fitness days (“cheat days”) for the first time, so-called training loads are set and the Health app records pregnancy data with more detail. A completely new app called Vitals has also been added. An Apple manager has now commented on this in detail: The aim is to ensure that even more body data is recorded – even at night.

More people should sleep with a watch on their arm
As Vice President of Health Sumbul Desai told CNET, stay tuned A large part of your own health has been invisible—until now. “This daily status (via the Vitals app) is almost like a little snapshot (…) of the whole night.” It’s about recording information such as heart rate or temperature, even when you’re not under stress during the day. “For the Apple Watch data to help you, you need to keep it on while you sleep.”
With the Vitals app, Apple’s main goal is to first establish a “baseline” of how the body behaves in a healthy state. It is then possible to record deviations very quickly. The problem with this, however, is that you have to re-charge the computer watch in its regular version – currently the Series 9 – throughout the day, which makes it difficult for Apple to charge its watch again. Fast charging function It helps. The Apple Watch Ultra, on the other hand, lasts up to three days, which is reduced somewhat if you wear it while sleeping.

All important data in one app
Currently, people use the Apple Watch mainly at night when they use it for sleep tracking. But it already has other advantages, for example that deviations in body temperature are recorded at night. With Vitals, the group of “night carriers” is now to be expanded.
Vitals evaluates various data such as sleep, heart rate, temperature, but also changes in altitude and (if specified) alcohol consumption and then displays health trends. The aim is to provide a better understanding of the body and conclude if the wearer will get sick soon. Desai emphasizes that one should be careful with the information and not send people to the doctor without giving reasons if there are abnormalities.
