Various dates leaked: What’s next for Vision Pro?

Apple likely won’t bring the Vision Pro to market with new internals before late 2025 or early 2026. This is the belief of Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, who is generally well-informed about Apple matters (paid). NewsletterOne possible reason could be that the manufacturer wants to make its headsets significantly faster – at least with the M5 SoC, which probably won’t appear in the first machines before autumn 2025.

Apple first installed M2 in the Vision Pro, which was released in the United States in the spring of 2024 and then came to Europe in the summer. This SoC was already outdated at the time of release, as the successor M3 was already due to hit the market in autumn 2023. With a direct upgrade to the M5, which represents the “minimum generation” for the new Vision Pro according to Gurman, the headset will stay fresh for a long time. Since the Vision Pro is always the higher-end version, buyers will definitely be pleased.

However, the upcoming M6 chip will also be on the agenda immediately – possibly from autumn 2026. There will reportedly be little or no changes to the design of the Vision Pro 2. “The major changes are internal, including processor upgrades.” Gurman is still not sure whether the Vision Pro 2 will actually arrive, so Apple’s plans could still change.

Apple has a special strategy for its computer glasses. Priced at less than 4,000 euros, the entry-level model is a luxury product that costs ten times more than the Quest 3S. The Vision Pro offers a significantly improved screen and completely controller-free operation through hand and eye tracking. To broaden the market, a cheaper model would have to be found, reportedly called “Vision”.

But it is likely to be even higher than the prices of Meta & Co., which – as Mark Zuckerberg himself admits – sells its devices at a loss or without a profit. Prices of 1,500 euros for the “Vision” are currently considered realistic. It is unclear whether it will appear next year. It is said to remove various features from the Vision Pro, such as the front EyeSight screen. Furthermore, the resolution is reportedly low.
