French publisher UBISOFT puts brands in a new business unit “sect”, “remote cruel” and “rainbow six”. It was announced on Thursday evening by the company. The Chinese Tech Group TENENT is investing 1.16 billion euros in the new business unit, which should be in line with a good 25 percent part of the 4 billion euro valuation.
The purpose of restructuring is to unlock creative skills and improve the quality of the story single player title, writing Ubisoft. In addition, the new business unit should also expand the UBISOFT multiplayer offer, rapid release and create “Free2Play contact points”.
“Today Ubisoft is opening a new chapter in its history,” said Yaves Guilmot, the founder of Ubisoft. He talks about a fundamental move that aims to strengthen Ubisoft’s business model and improve further expansion of game ecosystem. “With the establishment of a separate subsidiary, which will promote the development of our three largest franchises, and promote the entry of Tencent as a minority investor, we crystallize the value of our property, strengthen our balance sheet and make the best condition for long growth and success of this franchise.”
Tencent was considered a favorite
After several economically difficult years, Ubisoft discovered in a possible way out of the crisis for months. Even a complete acquisition of the company was not excluded. In January in an investor call, Guilmot spoke in several ways, but did not want to answer many doubts, but did not want to answer what they could see.
It is no surprise that a deal with Tencent eventually comes. Chinese tech giants have always been a favorite for a possible acquisition or for strong investment. Tencent already holds 9.2 percent of UBISOFT shares and 49.9 percent of Ubisoft-CEO Yaves Guillamot’s family holding company.
Developer studios in Montreal, Cubek, Sherbrook, Sagun, Barcelona and Sophia are called the new Ubisoft Toor. The German studios are not mentioned in Menz and Daseldorf.
