For this purpose, new, in-house Apple language models are used, the aim of which is to ultimately enable natural conversations with the Help system. The system is said to be able to answer even more complex questions more quickly. “LLM Siri” is currently being tested as a standalone app, Bloomberg explainsBut AI Siri is designed to eventually replace the previous Siri and integrate directly into Apple’s operating system.

According to information from the financial news agency, Apple is working towards introducing the new voice assistance system in mid-2025 – in parallel with the unveiling of iOS 19 and macOS 16. Ultimately, availability of “LLM Siri” is not expected until 2026.

Siri has already received a great new user interface in iOS 18.1 and macOS 15.1, with the launch of Apple Intelligence – but the voice assistant system has learned almost nothing. For more complex queries, Siri refers to web search as usual. As of iOS 18.2, Apple is using ChatGPT as an emergency solution: forwarding requests to the Siri chatbot if the user wants so. Apple has already hinted that support for Google Gemini is coming.
