Summer is here: Week 30 photos

Even though the weather this early summer was often changeable and not always sunny, or perhaps because of that, summer photos have now been created that show different aspects of the season. From storms to floods to cozy evenings on the lake, everything has been depicted this week.

tomorrow night

“Heavy rain and dark clouds in a village in Lower Saxony. Suddenly the sun breaks through the clouds – I go to the window facing east. And here is a natural scene: orange sky with a double rainbow. Now the first lightning flashes as the sun sets, reddish clouds come and after that a real lightning storm,” says Gaby Brockelmann (GJB) about her impressive image tomorrow night and the position in which he recorded it.

The interaction of color and lightning is possible only on a summer evening and therefore perfectly symbolizes this time of year. In such a situation, the smell that is in the air can be imagined only by looking at the picture.

Grass

(Image: 35mm)

The small tuft of grass looks like a lonely island in the vastness of the water that surrounds it. Gallery Photographer The 35mm photo has a summer mood Grass Very well captured. This is mainly due to the brightness of the sky and the flat background light that illuminates the plant stalks. We don’t know if this is a flooded meadow or a river that has overflowed its banks, but this doesn’t take away from the beauty of the scene.

Holidays in Sweden

What you see in the picture appears to be a classic summer evening Holidays in Sweden By Dave Derbis (Dave-Derbis). As he explains, this is no ordinary sunset like we see every day:

“This photo was taken just after 11pm in June during a photo tour in Sweden. The photo shows the intense colours of the midnight sun in an eight-second long exposure. You can see the typical content of a summer holiday in Sweden. A holiday home by the lake and lots of forest around, peace and beautiful light.”

The colors and surroundings match well with each other and complement each other beautifully. The reflection in the water gives extra intensity to the image and surrounds the pleasant atmosphere.

Feldhassar’l

A Feldhassar’l Sitting attentively in the middle of a meadow, photographed by Karl-Peter Herbolzheimer. The division of the background into field and sky ensures that no distracting elements disrupt the minimalist composition of the scene. The animal attracts all the attention and serves to hold the viewer’s attention. The blurring of the foreground and background, which is created using a telephoto lens, gives the image additional depth and allows the rabbit to stand out well.

three days of midsummer

(Image: tree frog)

The photo taken by photographer Baumfrosch over three days in midsummer looks particularly intense. He captured the somewhat isolated cycad in this way through the deliberate movement of his camera. He wrote to us about his view:

“The cycad, Cyclas revoluta, is twice as old as my camera and looks great. Every leaf is like the other and the structures fascinate me, especially when they overlap. As there was not much light in the evening, the exposure time I had was 1/6 second at ISO 100, enough for a moving camera. I changed the color tone of the image slightly towards lemon because I wanted to emphasize this particular summer feeling, the choice of the title was clear: This summer you are wasting away ‘I am happy with every warm day, there are only three of them.’

A very attractive description of the feeling that arises during the summer season.

Feeding

(Image: Franz Buchegger)

“In mid-July last year I was in Almsee in Upper Austria to photograph the Milky Way. I went there to photograph ducks, swans and grebes at dusk, while there was enough light. I saw a grebe family—three young birds with a grebe. The interesting thing was that the two siblings were already diving diligently and catching small fish, but the grebe chick in the photo didn’t think of catching fish herself and let her parents look after her the whole time,” Buchegger tells us about the circumstances of his photo Feeding,

The trees and bushes reflecting in the water give the image a summery hue that makes the two birds look even better than if their photo had been taken simply in front of the water. The natural vignette also ensures that attention is drawn to the grebes. The black-streaked plumage of the shiny young bird is also striking.

tulip time

(Image: RMarkovic)

Reuven Markovic (RMarkovic) had his photo tulip time As he writes to us, he has a very clear idea in mind:

“My goal, if I want to call it that, was to use my favorite lens, the Sigma 105mm f1.4 DG HSM, to isolate particularly beautiful flowers, while at the same time exploiting the lens’s wonderful bokeh properties. In the portrait ‘Tulip Time’ at full aperture, I especially liked the fact that the leaves in the foreground blurring into the bokeh created a kind of vignette frame and everything had a dreamy, surreal effect.

It worked well. The colors of the plant and the background complement each other. The green creates a nice, even base for the vibrant colors of the flowers and gives the scene the necessary calm.
