There are a lot of slot machines in Las Vegas that are called one-armed bandits. You won’t see any automatic vacuum cleaner with a gripper arm out there. At this year’s CES, Roborock and Dream’s cleaning robots are among the stars of the technology show in the desert city thanks to their wide-ranging cleaning arms.

Switchbot’s Mobile Load Platform, with which a vacuum robot moves objects around the home, is also causing a stir. Manufacturer Dreamy and its sub-brand Mowa showed base stations that connect mops to bots with different rough or gentle cleaning fibers, depending on the floor covering.
TP-Link equips the base station of the robot vacuum cleaner with a sewage treatment system so that the fresh water tank needs to be refilled less frequently. For the same reason, another function is to remove moisture from the air. Ecovacs and Eufy combine vacuum robots with removable or attachable accessories for hands-free floor cleaning in an original way.
Roborock Saros Z70: Gripper arm keeps socks in basket
A pre-production example of Roborock’s new flagship vacuum robot, the Saros Z70, unfolds a foldable gripper arm in Las Vegas to pick up socks and pull them into a basket. With this cleaning equipment he has to clean small dirt from the floor so that he can clean the bottom without any hindrance.
During product demos in front of selected media representatives and at the trade fair stand, the socks were packed with precision. However, it was a programmed routine in a defined area of operations. As soon as the software is ready, the Saros Z70 will use cameras and laser sensors to independently clear obstacles weighing up to 300 grams throughout the house. In addition to socks, Roborock delivers handkerchiefs, towels and sandals from the factory to the collection point. Up to 50 additional objects and storage locations can be learned using the smartphone app.
In addition, like the Qerevo Curve, the Saros Z70 can overcome the height threshold by up to four centimeters thanks to the wheel lift. Roborock aims to launch on the market in the first half of the year. The manufacturer remains silent about the selling price. Expect to pay between 2,000 and 2,500 euros.
DreamEye shows concept study of gripper arm and top model X50
Dreame’s version of the robotic vacuum gripper arm was a concept study. He couldn’t do more than turn a demo robot housing and gasp for air with a gripper. With a weight of 400 grams, Dreamy wants Roborock to be able to lift more loads. This will also include street shoes. In addition, the gripping tongs should freely hold brush and sponge attachments from the tool box and remove dirt in hard-to-reach niches with an arm length of 40 centimeters.

Additionally, Dream showed a concept study of a mop changing system as part of a base station. Depending on the floor to be cleaned, the station removes the magnetically attached mop pair, hoists it into an elevated car park with a crane system and, in the opposite way, attaches one of the three other mop pairs to a firmer or softer Connects with mop. ,
Dreame’s sub-brand Mova showcased a similar concept study at a nearby stand as part of an upcoming V80 Ultra device. It also offers a double tank for two cleaning agents, which drip onto the cloth in turns depending on the mop you choose. The launch and price for Mop Carousel of Dreams or Mova are not known.

As a finished product, Dream flew the X50 Ultra vacuum and mopping robot to Las Vegas. The brand’s new top model features production-ready versions of two acrobatic tricks presented at IFA 2024. With an extendable chassis, the X50 can cross thresholds up to six centimeters high. When the robot needs to clean under low furniture, it automatically retracts the laser tower mounted on the lid of the housing. The X50 should soon be available for just over 1500 euros.
