Spatial, intense, (too) intimate: new momentum for spatial video TNBT Podcast

Spatial video is in trend: Canon has brought to the market a new, stereoscopic lens that is aimed at semi-professional and amateur photographers – and is therefore relatively affordable in terms of price. It supports recording spatial video exclusively for Vision Pro. Meanwhile, Apple is currently expanding its offering of immersive 8K video, focusing on music content.

In Episode 40, Leo Becker talks to Mark Zimmerman, Head of Mobile Solutions at EnBW, about his first experiences with Canon’s spatial lens “RF-S7.8mm F4 STM DUAL” on the EOS-R7. There is also included Canon software, which can be used to export recordings as spatial video for VisionOS.

We also discuss recent video releases in Apple’s immersive format (8K, 180 degrees), including an impressive music video from The Weeknd. However, the first episode of a new music series with artist Ray feels a little more intimate in this format. Less exciting but possibly essential for the company to use is Microsoft Authenticator, which is now coming to VisionOS next year along with expanded Intune support.
