Samsung equips its devices with the abbreviation FE in the “Fan Edition” series. The newest member of the family is the Galaxy 24 FE, which will be available for purchase from October 4. The only question is whether Samsung has really done the fans a favor in terms of pricing.
With a diagonal of 6.7 inches, the display size is the same as the Galaxy S24+, but the edges of the display are slightly thicker and not perfectly symmetrical. However, unlike the S24+, the FE is not an LTPO panel; the refresh rate is only between 60 and 120 Hz, not dropping below 1 Hz. On the back, the Galaxy S24 FE has a 50-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera, and an 8-megapixel triple telephoto camera, and the selfie camera takes pictures with a resolution of 8 megapixels.

The S24 FE is powered by an Exynos 2400e, a deca-core processor that is almost identical to the Exynos 2400 in the Galaxy S24 and S24+. The S24 FE has 8GB of RAM and 128 or 256GB of internal storage with no expansion option. The battery capacity is 4700mAh and the maximum charging power is 25W. The FE draws a maximum of 15W wirelessly.
With Android 6.1 in combination with Samsung’s One UI 14, the smartphone is up to date in terms of software, and Galaxy AI is also on board. Samsung also wants to provide updates to the S24 FE for seven years, and the Koreans are exemplary in this regard. The glass and metal housing is protected against water and dust according to IP68.

The Galaxy S24 is better and cheaper
All well and good, but there’s a surprise: who should buy the Galaxy S24 FE? In the smaller storage version with 128 GB, the smartphone costs 749 euros to start with – almost the same as the Galaxy S24+, which is just as big but technically superior. At this price the S24+ also has twice the storage space. The S24 FE with 256 GB of memory costs 809 euros. If you can live with a slightly smaller smartphone and want to save even more, you can opt for the Galaxy S24, which is available for just 600 euros. There are few arguments left in favour of the Fan Edition. This was also the case with its predecessor, the Galaxy S23 FE, which reportedly sold poorly.
