But iOS users shouldn’t be disappointed by this, as the adapter works equally well for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The processing of the stick seems very simple, but considering the price there is nothing to complain about.

The adapter offers a slot for USB-A as a connection option. If the size of the stick is unfavorable for the respective cockpit the manufacturer also includes two extension cables with USB-A and USB-C – this is much appreciated. A getting started instruction manual, for which you will definitely need reading glasses, is also included.

Installation is incredibly easy: you plug the stick into the vehicle’s USB port. You then search for the device via Bluetooth with your iPhone or Android smartphone, pair it and then wait for the connection to be established. Then the icon for Android Auto or Apple CarPlay should appear on the infotainment system.

It worked directly with Android, but that may have something to do with the fact that Android Auto was mostly used with the vehicle. It took us several attempts until the connection with the iPhone was established. Before using it for the first time, it is recommended to first plug in the smartphone via cable and then configure Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. We tested it with the Opel Astra K and Samsung Galaxy S23, Honor Magic V2 and iPhone 12 Pro. We will test the adapter with other vehicles of our colleagues.
