PrivacyIdea 3.10: New container management and offline WebAuthn support


IT security company NetKnights has released version 3.10 of the multi-factor authentication software PrivacyIDEA. New functions include the organization of tokens in containers, the possibility of using WebAuthn tokens offline and the extension of the push token process to include additional security queries.

With the update, tokens can be organized into containers, which should enable clearer management. Users and administrators can group tokens according to various criteria and deactivate them if necessary.

Authentication even with unstable internet connection works with PrivacyIDEA 3.10, as WebAuthn tokens are now available even offline. This means users can authenticate themselves despite the lack of internet connection.

PrivacyIdea 3.10 extends the push process with an additional security query.

Authentication using push tokens has been extended to include an additional security query in which the user must correctly select the displayed letter or number.

PrivacyIDEA is an open source software for multi-factor authentication (MFA) aimed at increasing the security of IT systems. It supports various authentication methods such as one-time passwords, smart cards and biometric data and can obviously be integrated into various IT infrastructures.

The tool is modular and scalable, suitable for small to large companies, and provides a web-based administration interface to manage users and authentication policies. The software is available under the AGPLv3 license and is backed by an active community and commercial support options.
