Now that the date for this year’s iPhone keynote has been set, it’s time to focus on the details of the new devices. The iPhone 16 is likely to have a whole range of new photography features. The rumor mill claims that this time, these affect not only the Pro models, but also the standard devices. He writes AppleInsider,

Macro for Standard and Plus
The macro mode from the Pro models will probably come to the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus for the first time. To do this, the aperture of the ultra wide angle must increase from F / 2.4 to F / 2.2 and thus benefit more from low light. Apparently nothing is happening with the main image sensor on the rear with 48 megapixels and f / 1.6. The main sensor of the Pro and Pro Max models is also reportedly the same (48 megapixels, f / 1.78), but the iPhone 16 Pro adopts the 5x tetraprism telephoto lens from the iPhone 15 Pro Max (currently: 3x).
The ultra-wide-angle cameras on the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max are reportedly 48 megapixels and allow pixel binning. The aperture is now probably F/2.2 for better low-light handling and the sensor gets ProRAW support for the first time. Finally, according to the report, the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max now also pack 3K videos at up to 120 frames per second and Apple is looking to support JPEG-XL as a new image format, which will later be provided alongside HEIF, JPEG, HEIF Max, ProRAW and ProRAW Max.

New capture button with multiple features
Finally, at least the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max have their own button for photography for the first time, the so-called Capture button. But this could also end up in the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus. The button apparently works in a capacitive way. You should be able to operate it in several steps, for example to be able to trigger the autofocus in advance.
It is also possible that you can “swipe” on the button, for example to change the brightness. Apple is apparently working on an API that would allow external developers to use the button. So far, the Pro models already have an additional button, the so-called Action button. The new iPhones will probably be presented on September 10; the device will then go on sale on September 20.
