The Oukitel C50 is the latest creation in the Chinese electronics brand’s smartphone line-up. The manufacturer wants to make the cell phone attractive to as many potential customers as possible – it is advertised with, among other things, Android 14, a whopping 24 GB of RAM and three cameras on the back. All this on a smartphone about 160 euros Cost?
In fact, there are quite a few points in which the smartphone performs in an exemplary manner. The test shows where the strengths of the device can be found and where the weaknesses are.
Design: How is the processing?
Overall, the design of the Oukitel C50 is convincing. In the blue version, which we received from Oukitel for testing, the plastic back shines and sometimes changes to turquoise and dark blue. We find it aesthetic and Oukitel has succeeded in implementing it here. The frame of the device is also made of plastic. Some problems with the choice and processing of materials – including small gaps between the back, the edges of the device and the display, as well as the creaking back – still prevent it from making a good impression when using it. At 9.2 millimeters thick and weighing 208 grams, the smartphone is a little thicker and heavier than average, but it doesn’t really bother you. The pressure point of the volume and power buttons is just right.
Display: What is the resolution?
Unfortunately, we can only praise the display of the Oukitel C50 to a limited extent. The manufacturer installs a 6.8-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1600 × 720 pixels and therefore has a lower display resolution than most smartphones in this price range. We find the 90 Hz refresh rate offered by the screen useful here. However, the maximum display brightness of 375 cd/m² is quite low. The blue tint was a bit annoying.
Camera: How good are the photos?
As can be seen from the introduction, Oukitel advertises its C50 with three cameras on the back. However, upon closer inspection, you will notice that the only real camera on the back of the Oukitel C50 is the main camera, which has a resolution of 50 megapixels. The other two “cameras” are dummies that only have the same optics as the real camera sensor.
Still: You can take decent photos with the main camera for the price, even if some details are lost and colors are a bit faded, especially in complex lighting conditions. Video recording is possible at a maximum of 1080p at 30 frames per second. The front camera has a resolution of 5 megapixels and is sufficient for the occasional video call – but it certainly won’t make you a selfie king.

Features: How is the performance of the Oukitel C50?
The Oukitel C50 uses the Dimensity 6100+ as the processor. This entry-level chip from MediaTek from 2023 is manufactured using a 6 nm process and overall offers an adequate amount of performance in most cases. Apps usually open pretty quickly, but sometimes take a lot longer. You also have to expect occasional jolts or short pauses for thought when operating the device. However, the smartphone is always operational and usable for completing simple tasks or playing simple games.
Anyone expecting their smartphone to be able to multitask or accomplish complex things will still have to keep looking. In the PCMark Work 3.0 benchmark, the smartphone scored a mediocre 8500 points, but in 3DMark Wild Life, 1200 points are still within limits.
The smartphone comes with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. The advertised 24 GB of RAM is only possible if you use 16 GB of internal storage. Communication is via Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 5 and at least 5G. GPS, GLONASS and Galileo are available to determine your location. This is perfectly adequate for a smartphone in this price range.
It’s a pity that the manufacturer decided not to install an NFC module. This means, among other things, that contactless payments via Google Pay are not possible. A fingerprint sensor that works reliably is integrated into the power button. There is also a headphone jack and a mono speaker that delivers average sound quality.
Android 14 is preinstalled with security updates through April 2024. The system itself is very similar to the stock Android we know from Google’s Pixel smartphones – that’s good. However, there are translation errors or minor bugs in some places. Users cannot hope for long-term software support.

Battery: How long does the Oukitel C50 last?
One of the main features of the Oukitel C50 is the battery. The manufacturer uses a 5,150 mAh lithium-ion battery. In the PCMark battery test, the device achieved an excellent value of 15 hours of playback time. In everyday life, this is easily enough for two to three days of average use. Recharging takes place at a weak 10 watts, which means that it takes more than two hours to charge the battery. Wireless charging is not possible.

What options are there?
Another cheaper but more powerful option is the Xiaomi Poco M6 Pro (test report). For just over 150 euros, the Moto G54 (test report) is a well-equipped smartphone with a brilliant, bright display and plenty of performance. We show more options in these best lists:
conclusion
The Oukitel C50 offers 5G, which is not yet offered in this price range. The main camera is also good for the price, even if we don’t understand why there are two extra dummy lenses. Battery life is really good, but performance is quite poor. The large display is a bit dark and the resolution is not very high.
