After another forced break due to a patent dispute, Oppo wants to return to the German market. The new Find X8 Pro, an Android smartphone with a new processor, should help with this. Oppo continues its collaboration with Hasselblad on cameras.

The Find X8 Pro has a 6.78-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2780 x 1264 pixels. The LTPO panel supports adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz and has minimal curvature on long edges. Oppo equips the display with a neatly applied protective film. Below, the screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

The Find X8 Pro has a large, round camera element on the back. Despite its size, the LED flash no longer fits in it; It is located in the upper left corner. Oppo has found Hasselblad is responsible for color reproduction. The selfie camera has a 32 megapixel sensor.

Apart from the display and camera, the housing has space for a battery with a capacity of 5910 mAh. It can be charged either via cable at up to 80 watts or wirelessly at up to 50 watts. Oppo has installed an optical fingerprint sensor in the screen, and face unlocking works through the front camera. At close range, the Find X8 Pro transmits via WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC. The housing is protected against dust and water ingress according to IP68.

After our first experience with the Oppo Find X8 Pro, we noticed that the smartphone kept losing contact with the mobile network or switching back from 5G to 2G. This means that there is no stable data connection outside the WLAN. The only solution so far is to turn off 5G and only allow the Find X8 Pro into LTE networks. This behavior does not appear to be an isolated case; At least two other test samples for other media also show the error. We have reported the issue to the manufacturer and are currently awaiting a response.

Meanwhile, the processor performs flawlessly in general benchmarks. MediaTek Dimensity 9400, equipped with the most powerful ARM core at present, achieves extremely good results in computing and graphics tests. Find (4224 points) behind in 3DMark Wildlife Extreme. The new chip also leads in the GFXBench and Geekbench 6 multi-core tests, only in the Geekbench single-core rating it has to outpace the Apple A18 Pro in the iPhone 16 Pro with 2160 versus 3399 points. The Dimensity 9400 should at least be able to compete with the new Snapdragon 8 Elite. Longer tests will have to show how higher performance affects battery endurance.

Oppo Find X8 Pro has been introduced in black and white colors. Globally, Oppo offers storage variants 12/256 GB, 12/512 GB, 16/512 GB and 16 GB/1 TB. It is not yet clear whether all of them will come to Germany or not. Our test sample with 16/512 GB has a starting price of 1199 euros in Germany.
