Opera also introduces AI browser for iOS

Opera’s AI-powered web browser Opera One is now available for iOS devices as well. The new version integrates artificial intelligence (AI). The design is based on the Opera One design and includes a gesture-controlled user interface tailored to iOS users. Opera has also revised the search function.

Opera released its browser with VPN and built-in ad blocker on Tuesday. Users now have the option to move search to the bottom of the screen. “Bottom search” is one of three navigation styles in the browser. You can choose from standard navigation, fast action buttons, and bottom search.

According to the company, the search function has been simplified and should now be faster. The browser suggests suitable word combinations as you type. Opera has also introduced a gesture to access the search bar by swiping from the top edge – just like searching for apps on the home screen.

“Opera One’s new design is designed to make the most of the available screen space and keep distractions to a minimum,” explained to the offerorr. Therefore, the browser hides everything that the user is not currently interacting with. In particular, this affects the top bar and search bar as soon as users start scrolling. The color of the top bar and status bar also corresponds to the color of the page you are viewing. The news feed also appears in a new form: Opera describes this part as a “home page carousel full of news, live results and product tips.”

The artificial intelligence Aria is integrated into the browser. When users make a request, they go directly to the chat with the AI. From there they come to a relevant page, but can also return to the chat. The AI is intended to support searches, provide current web results, assist with product inquiries and text or code generation and, according to Opera, it can also be operated via voice input. Opera explains that Aria can also create drawings. Using Google Imagen2, the AI creates an image based on a prompt. “Aria’s creations can be further refined, copied, saved, shared or even used as the device’s wallpaper,” Opera said.

The Norwegian software company has announced more changes for the near future. “We plan to further develop our approach to the browsing experience on iOS in the coming months,” said Opera product manager Jonah Bolin.
