Under the motto “Reject perfectionism, strive for sovereignty instead”, photographers can submit their work to the Polaroid x Magnum open call until August 12, 2024. Polaroid announced that the call includes collaborations with renowned Magnum photographers Jim Goldberg, Newsha Tavakolian and Anri Canaz and is aimed at the next generation of storytellers. It should also be about submitting an idea for a personal project that is infused with empathy. The best submissions will receive a Polaroid I-2, 15 suitable films and an online review from three renowned photographers from the Magnum agency for this project idea.

They present their own projects as models: “Albania Homecoming” by Enri Canaz, “Mount Damavand Community” by Newsha Tavakolian and “Augusta Community” by Jim Goldberg. They show as examples how the art of instant photography can be applied and used by photographers and photo artists to capture real life in all its complexities.
Jim Goldberg comments, “Beauty lies not only in beautiful moments, but also in the moments you can’t plan, in the mistakes of our everyday lives. It’s everywhere. I truly believe in that.”
