More than eight years after its release, the space epic No Man’s Sky has finally forgotten its early difficulties and has now received so many positive reviews on Steam that the bad reviews from the early days have vanished along with it. As Shawn Murray of responsible game studio Hello Games has now discovered, over 245,000 reviews on the Steam gaming platform are now “very positive”. That means more than 80 percent of them are positive. On top of that, this rating became out of reach due to a number of bad reviews following the game’s unfortunate release.

No Man’s Sky: Eight Years After Failed Launch on Steam, Finally “Very Positive”

No Man’s Sky was released in August 2016; This was before the real promotion. The game was sometimes unable to meet unrealistically high expectations, as many of the developers’ promises turned out to be false. Negative reviews in particular flooded Steam, the central contact point for disgruntled players. Many buyers were initially disappointed by the missing multiplayer mode and repetitive items on procedurally generated planets. But where other game studios quickly give up, Hello Games has continued to work and improve the game with extensive updates.

With improvements and expansions, which were free to all buyers, Hello Games has slowly delivered on its original promises. Three years after its initial release, the game received mainly negative reviews on Steam. But each additional percentage point became correspondingly more difficult. Most recently, Hello Games upgraded the eight-year-old title’s graphics in July and dramatically improved them in some areas. For Hello Games, the work is not finished yet: the next comprehensive update has been announced under the title “No Man’s Sky: Worlds Part 2”. The large and loyal fan community will appreciate it.
