Netflix: Second “Arcane” season premieres weekly

As part of its Geeked Week, US streaming service Netflix has released several new trailers for films and series based on famous video games. This includes the second season of “Arcane”, the highly acclaimed series spin-off of “League of Legends”: the two-and-a-half-minute trailer shows protagonist V as a hardened arena fighter with alcohol problems.

The release rhythm of the second and final season of “Arcane” is unusual: while Netflix usually releases all episodes of a series at once, season 2 of “Arcane” appears in three “acts” – that is, spread over three weeks. Act 1 will be released on November 9, Act 2 on November 16 and Act 3 on November 23. It is not known how many episodes each act consists of.

In addition to “Arcane”, Netflix has also released the first teaser for its “Splinter Cell” series, which has been in the works for years. The series is called “Deathwatch” and follows the secret adventures of the game’s main character, Sam Fisher. The protagonist is voiced by American actor Liev Schreiber.

Other than that, the short trailer reveals very little, and there’s no release date yet. What is known, however, is that the series is being made in collaboration with rights holder Ubisoft and is being produced by Derek Kolstad, who made his name as the producer of the action film series “John Wick.”

In addition, Netflix has released a series adaptation of “Devil May Cry” and the first trailer for the animated “The Witcher” film “Sirens of the Deep”. After “Nightmare of the Wolf”, this is the second animated film about the witcher Geralt, who is narrated by video game voice actor Doug Cockle in “Sirens of the Deep”. The film is set to retell Andrzej Sapkowski’s short story “A Small Sacrifice” and will be available on February 11, 2025.
