Music videos in Spotify: now available to Premium users in additional countries

Music videos in Spotify are available to subscribers in an additional 85 countries, including Austria and Switzerland. German listeners have been watching the music video since March. At the moment, not all possible music titles are provided with the video, but are added piece by piece.

Songs that have a video attached are now given a special icon by the service. It looks like a small play button and is located in the same place as the “e” in the list view, which indicates “explicitly” adult content. In landscape mode, the video plays in full screen mode.

If you don’t want to use up your mobile data excessively while traveling, you have the option to turn off the music video with a click just below the video display and switch back to the view with the static cover image. Spotify also offers gradations for audio and video quality in individual settings to reduce data consumption.

Unlike Spotify Jam, which allows you to listen to music together, this innovation is not a Spotify-specific offering. Most of all, the music service closes the gap with providers like YouTube Music and Apple Music, which already feature music videos.
