Apple is managing to increase sales quarter after quarter in its services division. Most recently, these were US$24.2 billion, an increase of 14.1 percent compared to the same quarter last year. In addition to lucrative commissions from the App Store, subscription offers are the big money-spinner here. A study by market researcher Consumer Intelligence Research Partners, or CIRP for short, has now recorded which services are performing particularly well at Apple. The numbers were recorded for the United States, but are likely to be similar in the European Union.

According to CIRP, 27 percent of U.S. Apple customers subscribe to Apple News+ (which is still not available in Europe) and 17 percent of iPhone customers have purchased AppleCare Device Insurance.
CIRP figures show that Apple is scoring big, especially in the cloud storage business – this is also because there is no alternative to iCloud. However, it is conceivable that the EU Commission, US competition authorities or other governments will push for opening up in the future.
