iPhone 16 Pro Max as a spatial camera, immersive warfare material | TNBT Podcast

Until now, spatial photos could only be taken with the Vision Pro cameras – a venture that was not very suitable for everyday use. Apple has now brought the recording option to iPhones, so that “spatial photos” can be easily taken on the go. Also, Apple has upgraded the camera system of the iPhone 16 Pro (Max), which now uses a 48 instead of 12 megapixel sensor for stereoscopic shots with an ultra-wide angle – just like the main camera.

In episode 36, Leo Becker spoke to Mark Zimmermann, Head of Mobile Solutions at EnBW, about spatial photos and the first (frustrating) experiences with the iPhone 16 Pro Max. In addition to the quality, the fact that “spatial photos” are currently up to date is also frustrating as they cannot be edited on the iPhone. Our other topics include the beta of VisionOS 2.1 as well as immersive content including games and documentaries – and the question of whether you really want to be immersed in scenes of war and terror.
