The Hack Festival will take place in Mannheim from September 6 to 8, 2024. Under the motto “Decarbonize the Planet”, developers, designers, data analysts and students can participate in the hackathon event and work on sustainable ideas even without hackathon experience. Registration is possible until August 30. At the opening ceremony on September 6 at 3:30 pm, the organizer, The Hackathon Company, will welcome ESA astronaut Alexander Gerst, who will bring the sustainability perspective “from above”.

Six coding challenges and a public citizen track
There will be a total of six coding challenges during the hackathon, including recycling, reducing food waste, the circular economy and tracking your own COâ‚‚ footprint. The work is carried out by companies from SAP, Schwarz IT, KION Group, Roche and the city of Mannheim and the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region.

The Hack Festival is a combination of hackathon and public event aimed at all age groups: the free Citizen Track will take place on Saturday, September 7. Anyone who wants to participate in the hackathon must purchase a ticket for 19 euros (plus 0.99 euro transaction fee) during registration, which is intended to make registration more binding.
