Great Britain: Government wants to help auto industry

Great Britain is no longer in the European Union, but participates in the exit of the internal combustion engine for new cars. Since 2030, no car should be allowed for the first time in Great Britain that uses the only combustion engine as a drive. In theory, it should remain, but the Prime Minister Kir wants to help with the exceptions to the Strander Industry. Exceptions have to be made and possible punishment is to be prevented.

Great Britain has been a new government since 2024. Former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak softened the original targets from the conservatives and postponed the ban on sales for new vehicles with internal combustion engines from 2030 to 2035. On the other hand, the Social Democratic Labor Government relaces 2030, but gives concessions. For example, new hybrid vehicles must be able to enter the market by 2035. Manufacturers of luxury vehicles such as Aston Martin and McLaren are to be excluded from the ban on new cars with combustion engines. In addition, it should be easy for manufacturers who do not achieve e-car sales goals specified to avoid fines and pay less.

According to Transport Minister Heidi Alexander, these measures have been planning for a long time and not only a reaction to the new tariff. US President Donald Trump put the global economy under pressure with several tariffs. 25 percent of criminal levy applies to imported cars in the United States. Since April 5, ten percent tariffs have also been applicable on imports of all countries. Even high tariffs intend to many states. Meanwhile, Jaguar Land Rover has announced that it will suspend its delivery to the United States in April. The British government has written that the support for the auto industry is now in observation until the effects of the new tariffs become clear.
