Adobe is adding generative AI to its drawing program Illustrator: Firefly Vector Model 2 adds fully editable details as vector graphics. It is still available in beta version. The update should now be available for download for registered Creative Cloud subscribers.
Adobe Illustrator and Firefly Vector 2
The Generative Shape Fill tool allows artists to expand simple shapes like rectangles for the head, torso and arms and legs for a character into detailed vector lines using a hint like “cute colorful robot.” Like Photoshop, Illustrator also provides a floating context bar for this.
The AI ”Text to Pattern” option generates vector patterns upon prompt input. The settings for the colors and sizes of the graphic can be transferred to other graphics as a style reference to add colors and gradients to simple vectors with a single click.

Commercial Use and AI Policy
Like Adobe’s image generators, vector models should also be usable commercially without fear of warning users. Adobe has created ethical guidelines for the use of generative AI. Adobe is committed to respecting copyright and never trains its AI with user content.
Adobe trains its models using licensed content from Adobe Stock as well as public domain content. Adobe marks AI-generated files with so-called “content credentials” in the metadata that name the generating model and the host application.
Visualize images on product photos
In addition to AI tools, Illustrator brings many other innovations. The mock-up function is intended to help designers try out a logo or graphic on a photo to visualize its effect on a coffee bag, fabric bag or baseball cap, for example.
Illustrator offers a series of photos for this. The program adjusts the geometry automatically and in real time, for example when you drag the design onto a baseball cap with the mouse.
Illustrator’s new Mockups feature lets you display graphics on pre-made products like bags, T-shirts, and baseball caps in just a few clicks.

Add dimensions and file views
The dimension tool can be used to display values such as the length and angle of certain lines. This can help the printer to accurately output the graphic. This function is aimed at packaging designers, architects, and fashion designers, among others.
Drawing programs should pan and zoom quickly in large documents. Images can be magnified in view from 3.13 to 64,000 percent.
