Mini PCs usually come with the same boring box shape and black or silver case color. The Aoostar God 78 or Aoostar MN78 (Aoostar was formerly T-Bao/Tianbei) is a welcome exception. It comes in the exceptional look of the game Cyberpunkt. It shares the design with its less equipped brother, the Aoostar God 57 (test report). However, it works with the fifth generation Ryzen and therefore an older graphics unit that is not suitable for gaming. With the Ryzen 7 7840HS, the God 78 is actually suitable for gaming. It also has at least 16 GB of main memory (RAM) and 512 GB SSD storage.

Equipment: What hardware does the Austar God 78 offer?
The Aoostar God 78 is powered by a Ryzen 7 7840HS, which has eight cores and 16 threads (maximum 5.1 GHz) in Zen 4 architecture. The famous and powerful iGPU Radeon 780M is used as the graphics unit. It can use 16 GB or 32 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM, which comes from Crucial and is installed in two modules. This means that it can be replaced, although the manufacturer does not provide any information about the maximum size. The PCIe 4.0 SSD in M.2 2280 format is also replaceable, with 512 GB or 1 TB available. According to our test with the CrystalDiskMark storage benchmark, the Crucial P3 Plus writes at 4761 MB/s and reads at 5214 MB/s.
The mini PC also has all the necessary, modern connections. In addition to USB-C 4.0 on the back, DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1 are also available. A second USB-C port is responsible for powering the computer using Power Delivery with 100 watts (20 volts, 5 amps). This is commendable because it means you don’t have to rely on the included power supply – which would be expensive if lost. Of the two Ethernet ports, one operates at 2.5 GHz and one at 1.0 GHz.
The wireless interfaces use very current standards, with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, although there are already Wi-Fi 6E or even Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
Performance: How fast is the Austar God 78?
We have now experienced the Ryzen 7 7840HS in several mini PCs and we have a certain idea of what to expect. Keyword expectation: it is certainly even higher here due to the housing in addition to the chip, because anyone who shouts so much about gaming has to provide gaming. And that is what the Aostar God 78 does but first let’s talk about synthetic values. In the PCMark 10 benchmark, the Aostar God 78 tops the list with 7828 points; the average of several runs is 7746 points. The gaming benchmark 3DMark Time Spy gives the system 3443 points, which is lower than Intel’s top model at Minisforum Atoman X7 Ti (test report). The graphics points are 3076 points and therefore slightly below the Intel model. Geekbench certified the computer with 2631 points in the single-core and 13182 points in the multi-core test.
On the other hand, AMD’s graphics unit still scores points in the gaming area, where, unlike the benchmark tests, the Intel processor had real problems. The Aoostar God 78 can play Full HD games like Counter Strike and Anno 1800 with FSR (Fidelity FX Super Resolution) activated at medium to high settings without any problems, we get more than 70 to 90 FPS – if in doubt, lower it. What was interesting was the power consumption, which is around 24 to 30 watts as standard. However, if we put the system on load using Prime95 or games, the God 78 sometimes consumed up to 86 watts. This is comparatively a lot for a mini PC, but in terms of gaming it is still small – if you think about what a desktop PC uses.
Windows 11 Pro is preinstalled on the system, which does not even ask us for a Microsoft account when setting it up, but instead suggests a local setup. Our full system scan with Windows Defender ran without finding any viruses.
Fans: How fast is the Austar God 78?
By default, the two fans of the Aoostar God 78 are constant. In desktop mode with some applications open, the volume when the fans are active is a maximum of 34 dB; from one meter away it is about 27 dB; however, under load, they initially turn into bursts; the more the hardware heats up, the longer the bursts are. Here we sometimes measured more than 45 dB on the housing and 38 dB from one meter away. This is a lot for a mini PC, although according to HWMonitor the temperature does not go above 84 °C and the CPU can permanently maintain a clock speed above 4 GHz. Temperatures outside the case are below 40 °C at the top, but above 55 °C at the side edges.
Apart from the loud fan noise, what is annoying about the cooling system is the background noise from the top fan, which wheezes frequently. This noise makes the noise level quite loud.
Design: How is Austar God 78 processed?
The stylish outer casing of the God 78 has a cyberpunk look and is made of high-quality plastic. The RGB lighting on top can be changed to specified colors or patterns using a button – or turned off completely. The housing is divided into two parts that are screwed together. The lower part from the Awow HA7 (test report) looks very familiar to us, namely the layout of the connections and the design of the base and buttons.
You can open the case from the bottom to replace the RAM and SSD. After removing the rubber feet you can loosen the screws and remove the subfloor. Be careful with the fan installed on the floor, otherwise the cable will tear.
At 131.5 × 131.5 × 55 millimeters, the dimensions are absolutely average for a mini PC. The same applies to the 550 grams weight, which is common. In addition to the 100-watt PD power supply and the HDMI cable, the scope of delivery includes a VESA mount, which can also be used to mount the Aostar God 78 on the back of a monitor.

The Aostar God 78 is an unusual mini PC: unusual case design, unusual name. The Ryzen 7 7840HS once again lives up to its reputation and can deliver on the computer’s visual gaming promise. The games in our test show that the system is indeed powerful enough for Full HD gaming. We’re talking about current games, not ten-year-old casual games. The fact that this is possible on integrated graphics, even after countless mini PC tests, still amazes us.
The manufacturer relies on replaceable RAM and storage as well as good cooling. But good does not necessarily mean quiet. And so the Aoostar God 78 can withstand a fair amount of load, making it a great escape in everyday life. On the connection side, the mini PC offers the latest HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1 as well as USB-C 4.0. The use of USB-C with Power Delivery for power supply is also practical and commendable.
The overall package is right for us and so is the price. So, the only drawback in the test with the volume under load was four and a half stars.
